A Spring Style Reset
From breezy skirts and sandals to lighter scents and makeup, these are the fashion and beauty staples I’m most excited to welcome back as we enter into a new season.
As I’ve come to expect with New England weather, we’ve been fluctuating this March between brutal cold and warm sunshine days. It may be slightly too early to declare that spring has officially arrived, but that doesn’t mean I can’t start fantasizing about being able to leave my house without turning into a popsicle, as well as the triumph of transitioning into a fresh seasonal wardrobe.
After living in Los Angeles for many years, one thing I (sometimes) missed about Northeast life was having true seasons, and the way they allow you to revisit different parts of your closet. There’s something so satisfying about dressing in a way that reflects not just the weather, but the overall energy of a changing time of year.
So this week, I wanted to share what I’m most looking forward to in my personal beauty and fashion routine as we move into spring.
Skirts
For me, one of the best feelings is that first warm breeze and a little sunlight on my sad, pale skin after months of bundling up in thick jeans and sweatpants. Especially when accompanied by one of my favorite spring and summer staples: skirts.
I’ve definitely experimented with wearing skirts in the winter, but always with a thick pair of leggings underneath, which just doesn’t hit the same. There’s something about being able to wear a skirt as intended, with the freedom of feeling the air move beneath it.
For anyone who feels unsure about styling skirts, or tends to think of them as reserved for more formal outfits, I honestly find them to be just as versatile as pants or shorts and appropriate for any occasion. A short, flouncy skirt can feel playful and flirty for a daytime outing, while a long, structured shape can create something more polished.
And I definitely don’t subscribe to the idea that spring skirts have to be bright, floral, or ultra-feminine if that’s not your vibe. Pictured above are some black options in varied silhouettes that demonstrate the true range of options for the skirt genre. You can still stay true to your personal style while enjoying the privilege of less constricting layers.
Color

If brighter colors are your thing, however, spring is the perfect time to pull them out.
Of course, color can be worn year-round, but I naturally gravitate toward deeper, moodier gem tones in fall and winter, and start reaching for softer shades and pastels once the weather shifts. Pieces like this green striped shirt and my pink polo always feel more appealing when the days get brighter.
That said, this absolutely does not stop me from wearing all-black outfits throughout spring and summer too (as my previous photos clearly prove). But adding in some more vibrant shades feels like a nice escape from winter’s darker palette.
Sandals
I know open-toed shoes can be divisive and there are certainly some anti-sandal advocates out there. But look, I exfoliate and moisturize my feet and I think they deserve some sunshine.
Once the weather gets genuinely hot and even sneakers start to feel too constricting, I absolutely love the ease of slipping into a breathable pair of sandals. Last year I had a few pairs in rotation, including the pictured Gucci-inspired slides (bought from TikTok shop a couple years ago 🫣) that were comfortable enough to wear while walking around the sloping streets of a Greek island. I’ve also gotten plenty of use out of these unexpectedly cute Croc wedged sandals, which were supportive enough for a long weekend of lapping an anime convention center.
That said, I’d love to find some additional pairs this year. Since I love to walk, comfort is non-negotiable, so I’m always looking for something that balances style with support, which unfortunately, is easier said than done. I’ll be sure to report back if I succeed in my search.
Scents
I already wrote a whole post about the fragrance profiles I love most in warmer weather, and I’m so excited to crack open some of those bottles again this season.
I’ll probably need to make an updated warm-weather scent favorites list soon, because I’m always on the hunt to experiment with new perfumes.
I’ve had my fill of dessert-inspired gourmands over the colder months, and I’m ready to shift back into florals, fruits, and anything that feels feminine while still light and breezy. There are already some new finds I’ve been excited about, so a full post on those will definitely be coming in the next couple months!
Sunglasses
Obviously, there are sunny days throughout fall and winter, but for me, sunglasses just don’t hit the same during colder months.
To be fair, I may need to reevaluate that next year, because I’ve definitely seen some very chic cold-weather outfits styled with sunglasses on my feed. Still, there’s something about putting on a pair of sunnies on a truly warm, bright day that feels like a proper welcome into longer days and sunnier skies.
Fresh Makeup

I’ve said many times before that my beauty vibe is very much no-makeup makeup—glowy, fresh, and skincare-focused. That doesn’t completely change in fall and winter, but I do find myself adjusting a bit once the weather gets warmer.
Especially when sweat becomes inevitable the second you step outside, I like to keep things especially light to avoid any makeup-melting disasters. That often means skipping a full base altogether and sticking to lightweight tinted sunscreen. Stains are also a great option as they’ll stay put all day without risk of slipping off from the sun. I’m an especially big fan of the Milk Makeup cooling jelly tints, which add a refreshing, long-lasting pop on the cheeks and lips.
And as with clothing, I also tend to lean more into brighter tones for the face—like hot pink, vivid orange, and cherry red—instead of the cool-toned mauves or deeper brick reds I reach for more in the fall and winter.
Spring always feels like a small reset for me, not just in my closet, but in the way I want to present myself. The return of cheerful colors, lighter layers, and fresher beauty choices is exactly what I need to bring some much-needed energy back into my life after a long winter. I’m excited for the brighter months ahead and all the new seasonal inspiration to experiment with and share. ☀️
